Why Rise Up Marketing? It comes from the poem "Still I RIse" by Maya Angelou. I read her novel, "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" my freshman year of college and was instantly taken by the magnificant writing of Angelou. The story, and the poem, are real, raw and can be heartbreaking. But her writing is masterful. I've loved her work since then. After I was laid off, I reread the poem "Still I Rise" and it stuck with me. The poem's context and subject are much deeper than being upset over any of my personal problems. But the principle remains the same. I may be down and feel helpless. BUT STILL I RISE.

I think of Small Businesses along those lines often. Fighting and working extra hard to make eveything successful. It's a grind. And marketing/advertisng is expensive. So I wanted to work with small businesses and help them understand the value of the brand, consistency and the right marketing plan. But not at big agency prices. Because, frankly, I love doing it. I love discovering a brand voice and tone and setting it with the right colors, fonts and logos. I love setting up the right social media plan. I love helping small businesses RISE UP above the competition. I believe everyone can rise up!
